  • Playing around with Surnames....

Mithuiel, (please note that English is not my first language) when combining words, you don't use the "of the" in the name: so not 'Thandenfor', but more like 'Forthand', translated to 'Northern-Shield'. You can translate the "of the" however you want, but including "e/en" is not correct by Sindarin standards. When I looked at 'Erydthalion', I noticed that you made 'orod' plural, but in a name, that's not necessary, as you translated it as 'mountain warrior', so one mountain, not more. So that would be 'Orodhalion', as you sometimes merge the letters connecting the words. 'Aerthalion' looks correct, but looking at 'Tirenoval', again, it's better to perhaps make it 'Tirroval', though it does not translate to 'Wings of Right', but to 'Guarding Wing'.

When making Sindarin names, you also have to take into account the mutations, because with a compound the word/s after the first is/are lenited (soft mutation):

    • Calen + sad = Calenhad (not Calensad)
    • Thind + coll = Thingol (not Thindcoll)

Lastly, the Tengwar with the usernames. When you want to insert your username in the Tengwar section, you first type it on www.tecendil.com or www.jrrvf.com, and then you copy the transscripted bit and paste onto your profile's Tengwar section. Then it makes sense.

I hope to have informed well enough on these topics.
