Sindarin/Quenya for "language teaching"

Esteliel #3700

Hi!

I wonder if there is a word/phrase for "language teaching" in Quenya or Sindarin (I have only found lambengolmë for linguistics, but what I'm looking for is with more of a pedagogical aspect.) Anyway, I've tried to translate it to Sindarin: probably

lam+golthanneth -> lamgolthanneth

but I don't know whether some kind of inflection or sound-change would be needed.

Hello Esteliel!

I wouldn't combine them myself. If you break down the phrase.

Language - This is a noun that refers to the method of human communication, either spoken or written, consisting of the use of words in a structured and conventional way.

Teaching - This is a verbal noun (also known as a gerund), derived from the verb "teach". It refers to the act, process, or profession of imparting knowledge or skills to someone.

So with that I would say Golthad lam. Which I believe would be "teaching a language" I think that would work for you. Or even Glothor lam “A teacher of language”.

And also Lammas, pn. “Account of Tongues” in Sindarin as well.

Thank you very much! Yeah, golhad lam will work, I think.
