Name Translation

Hi! I am very new to translations and am trying figure out a tranlation for the name Blackfeather in Quenya and Sindarin.

Using the search and just combining words, Morpesson was all I could get for Sindarin and for Quenya, Moriquessë was the best I could come up with (I found Morilúpë which is good, but seems closer to blackbird). Is this how you make names—by just combining words—or is there some better way to compose a name?

Unfortunately I am unable to help, as I am unfamiliar with the extremely complex process of Sindarin/Quenya naming - this is just a word of warning. Perhaps an expert will be able to help you on this... (a Gilruin or Elaran-tier expert)

Also, an extra question, are you learning Sindarin/Quenya? If so, I think you should join r/sindarin or r/quenya on reddit. Personally I found Elaran's advice there to be really helpful.

(BTW If you want to learn you should focus on one; I don't think you should learn both at once since they have similarities and will get you mixed up. As for me I decided to start with Sindarin)

As compounds, I'd say Q. mori-quesse > Moriquesse and S. pess-morn > Pessevorn or morn-pess > Morphes (older) or Morbes (newer) are the most straightforward formations, which could then take various optional name-forming or gender-specifying suffixes. Curious for some other opinions.

I suspect there's another possible result for the tricky -ss-m- sequence in the first Sindarin option, but without attested examples, it's probably safer to stick with the connecting vowel from pess's hypothetical ancestor: AT *pesse < PE *kwessē.

There is rasse-mundo > Rasmund but that feels wrong tbh. Primitive sm becomes mm (kasma, asmalē) but I doubt that the same goes for sV-m in secondary contact.
