commands Thranduil

Mae govannen

I was watching the extended edition of BotFA today and noticed that Thranduil shouted something that sounded like 'let go' to his army, but it didn't appear in the subtitles. Before that, he also shouted something of which I'm sure is in elvish, right after Dain said: Bring the goats. I was wondering if someone knew what he shouted and what it means.

thank you

He shouted Leitho!, which means "Release!" in Sindarin. He was telling his archers to shoot (lit. release their arrows). I'm not sure about the other thing you mentioned, though.

Have been lurking on this website for years, but made an account to reply to this lol

After listening to the scene i figured it sounded something like "igoithangail" and after a quick research, "thangail" appears to mean shield-face/shield-wall, which would roughly match the context if you ask me. I don't know what the first part of the sentence might mean though.

Took me a moment to find the scene. It does sound like he said thangail (not sure about the preceding syllables), but I don't think this makes sense at all, given that the response to his command was to nock and draw their bows.
