name help?

Anedacuil #1308

I am very, very new (read: started this week) and I was trying to make my name "gives life" in Sindarin but am not sure of the correct translation- the best I could come up with was Aneda (Aned--> give, -a--> he/she Aorist) and cuil (life) but I am sure that this is not correct seeing as I am only just starting... I have been on here without making a profile for a while and I have seen that this is a great community, I am excited to become part of it.

I used this Sindarin grammar website: www.elvish.org

Welcome to Parf Edhellen - I’m happy to see that rut have decided to finally join us!

Now! This is a tricky question. Q. Annatar “lord of gifts” (< anna + tar) would perhaps be a good starting point. The same word form gifting in Sindarin is anna- which we can combine with the agental suffix -(r)on “agent”. Thus *Annaron “giver” but it is still missing “life”.

So let’s look at besoneth “giver of bread” (< bass + oneth). We should be able to work with that! Thus *Cuiloneth “life-giver”.

I’d give my suggestion some time for the community to react to, just to be sure.

Cheers,
