Aldaleon's profile page is not the right place to discuss this, but I will reply here so that you would see it.

I have reviewed and rejected your proposed contributions. Though while doing so, I pressed enter too soon by mistake. About your "fëran = void" proposal, I was saying that neologisms are not made up out of thin air, instead they are based on attested roots and cognates, and your proposal does not have any such support. I am not sure what you mean by "real" but "fëran" is certainly not an attested (i.e. created by Tolkien, or simply "real") word.

I should add that "ë" is not used between two consonants in Tolkien's Quenya orthography, it should simply be "feran" (the word is still "fake" however). Your name is also using it, but Quenya does not allow "ei" as a diphthong either.

Ni rúvina as alassë omentië! I am bursting with joy upon our meeting. I have been using this web sight for a long time and have finally made a profile. I want to thank you for all the hard work you have put into this website.

Hi there! I am looking for a specific phrase to be translated into Sindarin. I was wondering if you could help me out? I have tried going to multiple websites but have been unsuccessful in finding translations. Thanks! K.M

@Kaitlyn Mitchell: Please create a separate topic, this is not the right place.

Hi, first of all I want to let you know that the interface and discussion revamp is turning out great! Huge thanks that you keep developing this amazing site!

There are a couple of things I noticed after the revamp however that I wanted to point out, nothing major though:

  • the blockquote style seems to have disappeared, they are now shown as normal paragraphs. [example]
  • splitting entries over multiple columns often results in only one or two lines per column, I would suggest to disable it if that’s not too complicated.

    ex

  • I don’t see an option to add a new contribution anymore (I could be just too dumb to find it, however the empty box on the contributions page looks suspiciously like the place it should appear)

    ex

  • The thread-title isn’t placed centered compared to the text, but to the whole page, which looks like an error.

    ex

  • the text on the selected tab of the navbar is displayed lower that the rest, not sure if this is intentional.

    ex

Also, I’m currently looking into Parf Edhellen’s source code, hoping to perhaps help with the development some day, though that might take some time, I haven’t looked much into Laravel before.

Thank you for letting me know about these issues! I’ll look into fixing them today - they are, as you said, fortunately rather minor.

I’m currently working on refining the auto-scroll behaviour for Discuss. I want to avoid unnecessary scrolling.

Any help on the website would be tremendously appreciated. It has theee equally complex components: RDS relational database for the content, PHP backend with Laravel and TypeScript frontend. Depending on what you’re familiar with, any help in either would be really cool.

Perhaps a “bug reports” section would be a useful addition as well, now when I think about it. 🤔

Another find: pre’s need some attention: www.elfdict.com

Aldaleon #2073

Well, good news is that all other issues you've reported have already been fixed. Thank you! I'll get to the pre now... that one was a miss on my part as I forgot that it's something people can do with Markdown.

Aldaleon #2074

The pre issue has been fixed but it doesn't look aesthetically pleasing to me. I'll do one more pass on it later today. Thanks again for the report!
