Gnomish

thast

noun. shaving

A noun appearing as G. thast “shaving” in the Gnomish Lexicon of the 1910s as a noun form of G. thas- “shave”, along with an abstract form thathri “shavings, sawdust” (GL/72).

Conceptual Development: When the entry was first written, this word was initially glosses “a razor”, while thathra was “shaving”. Then thathra was deleted and thast became “a razor, shaving”, and finally just “shaving” as noted above.

Neo-Sindarin: Since I retain ᴺS. thas- “shave” I would keep ᴺS. thast as well, but I would use it for “shaving(s)” the result of shaving, and would use the gerund ✱thased for the act of shaving.
