A verb in the Gnomish Lexicon of the 1910s glossed “remain, stay, stand”, which in combination with the dative also meant “endure” (GL/47). It appeared above an adjective form G. rô “enduring, long suffering; quiet, gentle, docile”. There was a bar joining these two words, an “X” next to the bar possibly indicating their rejection. These words may have been based on the early root ᴱ√RU’U with derivatives like ᴱQ. rue “rest, stillness, remaining, steadfastness” (QL/80).
