A root in The Etymologies of the 1930s, apparently meaning “precipice”, with Danian, Ilkorin and Noldorin derivatives of the same meaning, such N. rhass < ✶[[mp|kh[a]rassē]] (Ety/KHARÁS). It is similar in form and meaning to the later root √BARAS > ✱b(a)rasse > S. brass “great cliff” (PE17/23).
