I've been introducing my larp character as Naerduil Starchild for years. I've recently caught the Sindarin bug and I'm trying to figure out if Starchild would translate to Hin-Gallad or Galladhin. I would love to know what the best Sindarin translation of Starchild would be! Thanks.
Welcome Naerduil! Where did you come up with Gallad? Just curious. Did you mean galad [ng-] n. "radiance, glittering reflection" as in Gil-galad "Starlight"
I come up with Elchen or Gilchen.
*'ch' is always like ch in Scottish loch. Never like ch in English chair.
I suppose you could reverse them and have Henel or Heñgil.
[ñɡ] between two vowels (like ng in English finger).
Others may come up with something different.

Yes. I meant galad. I put an extra "l" in there. I was not looking at my notes when I typed the question. (Perhaps, if the character was a Twilight vampire, "glittering child" would work!)
So far, I am tempted to go with Heñgil because I am lazy and teaching people (fellow 'Muricans) to pronounce Gilchen could get tiresome. (Or maybe I am over-thinking it?)
