Sindarin translation for The Far Traveller

david wendelken #4506

Intent is to give a name to an ocean-going ship designed for long voyages of exploration.

I'm thinking of these options:

palanglenna (but a bit long?), haeglenna, or haelîdh

Other ideas, comments?

Unfortunately none of those work.

palanglenna, haeglenna, These two are just using the verb.

haelîdh and this one has a long vowel with is not permitted.

Traveller would be glannor you could have Haeronglannor [hae-rong-LAN-nor] but it is very heavy.

  • Anlidh "Long-Journey" Could be an option. [AN-lidh]
  • Palanglannor "Far-Traveller" [pa-lang-LAN-nor] still kind of heavy but not like the first one.
  • Gaerlannor "Sea-Traveller" [gaer-LAN-nor]

Thanks! I like Gaerlannor!
