Looking for a name

Benjie Wilhelm #3009

Mae govannen mellon!

I’m currently a grad student in my final semester before graduation and we’re being tasked with building an identity for ourselves.

I’m searching for some sort of elvish name for designer or strategist—someone who builds or uncovers meaning.

I’ve done my best to craft something on my own. But I’m woefully terrible at grammar and language.

So, show us what you've crafted, so people can give you guidance on it!

(I post bad translations all the time. I use them as a starting point for getting a good one from people who actually do understand the languages!)

The one I’m most fond of is “Cenistar”

Which I believe would roughly translate into one who sees and knows.

From cen- to see and ista-to know

Cenistar is unfortunately not a proper name construction. I would instead offer:

Panuron (S. maker of plans)

Or alternatively you could just use maeron (artist) as a name for “designer.”

Tamas Ferencz #3022

"designer" or "strategist" are not really proper names, rather words for occupations (i.e. simply nouns), so I don't think the usual Eldarin name-forming conventions apply (no mandatory masculine/feminine suffixes). Cenistar "seer-knower" might work. Other possibilities: maitamo "designer" (to distinguish from maitar "artist, poet" eldamo.org); raitar from eldamo.org

Thank you so much Tamas, and Gwilithiel!

Both suggestions are great, and I appreciate the explanations behind them. How would one pronounce Panuron?

Maeron I assume would be pronounced similar to Mairon /may-ron/ ?

Panuron = PAH-noo-ron
Maeron = MEYE-ron (ae is like the "i" in twine except glide into a more "eh" sound rather than an "ee" sound.)
