Translation help

Lola #1998

Hello!

I’ve been wondering about the elvish (Quenya?) translation of my name.

On the lovely list www.arwen-undomiel.com, Dolores has been translated as Naerdiel, to be literally meaning "lady of sorrows".

How accurate would that translation be? I can’t figure out where the d between naer and iel come from. Wouldn’t Naeriel be more accurate?

Hello! It seems, that it was supposed to be a Sindarin translation, but I, too, can not figure out why there is a -d-. Concerning the website, I recommend staying away from it, since it contains quite erroneous and obsolete translations.

I would suggest either your Naeriel, "Sorrowful daughter," or Níniel, "Tear-maiden, lit. Tear-daughter," or, alternatively, Níriel with the same meaning.

In Quenya, these are Nairiel/Nainiel and Níniel/Níriel, respectively.

Omg, thank you so much for your help! These are all so beautiful, it will be difficult to pick one.
