Tumbë
Hi
I was wondering, do we have any insight into the thought behind this word for «trumpet»? Does it relate to words for sound or horns of animals or any material? I noticed it is very similar to the real-world origin «trombe/tromba», which is also a word for waterspout/tornado, the two meanings probably linked by the similar shape. Therefore I was pondering, if one should ever be in want of an elvish word for tornado/waterspout, could this real-world etymology be appropriated, making tumbë a word for waterspout as well as trumpet, or imagine tumbë being derived from such a word, and then reverse-imagine-engineer the waterspout-word?

"I am here to help" in Sindarin??
(This is not going to answer your question.) Does the translation have to be that direct? I don't know the context you're working in, but if you want the elvish to be Tolkieny, allowing the limitations to steer a creative, possibly somewhat poetic translation, can be fun. And helpful.
