tunga
adjective. taut, tight; resonant (of strings)
An adjective in The Etymologies of the 1930s glossed “taut, tight (of strings, resonant)” derived from ᴹ✶tungā under the root ᴹ√TUG having to do with strength (Ety/TUG).
Conceptual Development: Early Qenya word-lists of the 1910s has ᴱQ. tunga “thick, dense”, but its relationship to other roots and words from this period is unclear (PE16/145).
