Gnomish

tuim

noun. steam

A noun in the Gnomish Lexicon of the 1910s originally glossed “bud”, but this was revised to “steam” (GL/71). Before the change in gloss, this word was probably derived from the early root ᴱ√TUẎU which had various bud-related derivatives (QL/96), but after the change its etymology is unclear.
