tete

root. bud, blossom

A root in the Qenya Lexicon of the 1910s glossed “bud, blossom” with derivatives like ᴱQ. tetl “small flower” and ᴱQ. tetse “bud” (QL/91). It had derivatives in the contemporaneous Gnomish Lexicon such as G. teth “a bud” and G. tethla- “to bud” (GL/70). There are no clear signs of this root in Tolkien’s later writing.
