Early Quenya

ausie

noun. wealth

A word appearing as ᴱQ. ausie “wealth” in the Qenya Lexicon of the 1910s under the early root ᴱ√AW̯A having to do with riches and property (QL/33).

Neo-Quenya: The root √AW “possess, own, keep” resurfaced in Late Notes on Verb Structure (LVS) from 1969, along with a derivative aura “possession, thing owned”. As such I would adapted this Early Qenya word as ᴺQ. aurië “wealth” as an abundance of possessions, an abstract noun based on aura.

auvar

A Qenya name for G. Ausir in the Qenya Lexicon from the 1910s (QL/33), also appearing as Autar and replacing rejected Avar/Avas.

milkin

noun. wealth

A noun appearing as ᴱQ. milkin “wealth” in the Qenya Lexicon of the 1910s under the early root ᴱ√MḶKḶ “possess” (QL/62).

Neo-Quenya: Given S. maelig “wealth, abundance” < √MILIK from the 1950s, I think ᴺQ. milcin “wealth” can be retained for purposes of Neo-Quenya.

Early Noldorin

lhub

noun. fat

A noun appearing as ᴱN. lhub “fat” in Early Noldorin Word-lists of the 1920s (PE13/149). It was a later iteration G. lub “fat, fat flesh” in Gnomish Lexicon of the 1910s derived from primitive ᴱ✶lūpe (GL/55).

Neo-Sindarin: I think it is worth retaining these words for purposes of Neo-Sindarin as ᴺS. lûb “fat, (fat) flesh” from a Neo-Root ᴺ√LUP.

moir

noun. goods

A (singular) noun for “goods” in Early Noldorin Word-lists of the 1920s, based on the adjective ᴱN. maur “good” (PE13/150). Moir was originally the plural of the adjective, but Tolkien later decided the plural form of the adjective was identical to its singular form and moir was a noun instead.

armar

collective noun. goods

A plural noun in The Etymologies of the 1930s glossed “goods” derived from the root ᴹ√GAR (Ety/GAR). It was initially given as singular arma meaning {“possessions, goods, property” >>} “a piece of good or property” (EtyAC/GAR, ƷAR).

Conceptual Development: The Qenya Lexicon of the 1910s had ᴱQ. vakt- “wares” under the early root ᴱ√VAKA (QL/99).
