Qenya 

mauya-

verb. to compel, to compel; *to constrain

A verb in The Etymologies of the 1930s glossed “to compel” under the root ᴹ√MBAW “compel, force, subject, oppress” (Ety/MBAW; EtyAC/MBAW).

Neo-Quenya: Parmandil suggested it may also mean “✱to constrain” based on the related Sindarin/Noldorin word Bauglir “Constrainer” (LR/206). However, the Sindarin derivatives of the root ᴹ√MBAW are much darker than the Quenya equivalents, e.g. ᴹQ. mauya- “compel” vs. N. baugla- “oppress”, so I think it unlikely the Quenya word would have this meaning, especially since it is not a direct cognate of corresponding Sindarin verb.
