esgia-

verb. to smoke (intr.)

A neologism coined by Paul Strack as an intransitive verb for “to smoke”, inspired by Shihali’s neologism ᴺQ. ustya- < ✱us(u)kya-. In Sindarin the ancient sk became sg, while the short u became o and then o > œ > e via i-affection; compare [N.] delia- < ✱dulya- (Ety/DUL). In older versions of this Lexicon this word was ✱✱ysgia- based on different assumptions on how vowel affection works in Sindarin.
