sindarin vowels

Im trying to learn sindarin, & vowels are so confusing. Can anybody explain them to me?

I assume you mean pronunciation? In that case:

  • All a's are pronounced like "ah" in "father"
  • All e's are pronounced like "eh" in "get"
  • All i's are pronounced like "i" in "machine"
  • All o's are pronounced like "o" in "got"
  • All u's are pronounced like "u" in "rude"
  • All y's are pronounced like the "u" in French "lune"
  • "Ai" is pronounced like "i" in "twine"
  • "Ae" is the same as "ai", except you glide into an "e" and not an "i" (but it is also ok if you can't differentiate between the two)
  • "Ei" is pronounced like "ey" in "neigh"
  • "Au/aw" is pronounced like "ow" in "couch"
  • "Oe" is pronounced like "oy" in "join"
  • "Ui" is pronounced like the "ooey" in "gooey"

Hope this helps! :)

Yes! Thank you so so much

I forgot to mention that accents above vowels denote length. So "á" is pronounced the same as "a", but said for slightly longer. "Â" is also pronounced the same as "a", but said for slightly longer than "á".

Thanks I was just about to ask.
