Tengwar!!!

Suilad, mellyn!

So. Tengwar. A few months ago, I looked online and in Appendix F to create a form of tengwar that worked for me. I have been writing and journaling in the makeshift script for a while now, to the point where I can pretty easily decode anything in my tengwar. I thought I had it right until I tried to decode some of the stuff in the Parf. I caught on pretty easily to the vowels above the letters, but some of the other characters I couldn't puzzle out. If anyone has a tengwar chart that corresponds to the Parf and Tolkien's own writing, I would be ui hantalë.

Hey Melalinwe

The exact way Tengwar are used depends on the language you are writing. There are three common modes: the Classical Mode (used for Quenya), the General Mode (notably used for 3rd Age Sindarin but also other languages), and the Mode of Beleriand (archaically used for Sindarin).

The best resource you can find regardin Tengwar here Amanye Tenceli. This link is specifically to the page where you can find the different modes, but feel free to browse the website for other things.

I would emphatically recommend steering clear of Omniglot for Tengwar, it is full of inaccuracies and bad information. Amanye Tenceli is best resource out there.
