Hi! I've been looking for help with translating this for almost a year now and have just stumbled across this site. I cannot express how thankful and happy I am that a resource like this exists. I love learning languages and hope to start learning some of Tolkien's, but I have to admit his are far more complex than I imagined. They're so complex that places that I thought would have accurate translations, like Jens Hansen, are just cheating the language and directly transliterating English into Tengwar instead of translating it first.
Anyways, for the past year I've been wanting to order my boyfriend a replica of Celebrimbor's ring from this video game we've been playing called Shadow of War. Unfortunately, the creators of the game understood Tolkien's languages about as much as places like Jens Hansen, so whatever they wrote on the ring in the game is gibberish. From what I've found, the ring is supposed to have a portion of this text from another part of the game on it:
"I am The Bright Lord of Mordor. The silver hand that drives back the darkness, Reaching through the fog of night, To avenge those long betrayed. Arise from fields of death, And march forth from the shadow, Through the purifying flames of war, You who were once eldar shall be reforged. Beneath my hammer, The Bringer of Gifts, the Betrayer shall be un-made, I renounce the Blessed Realm. To redeem the Land of Shadow. And bind the walls of Arda, In place of the Dark Lord, You shall have light undiminished, All shall fear me and rejoice”
Ideally, I'd like to have a part of the speech in Sindarin and then written in Tengwar on the ring-- either "I am The Bright Lord of Mordor. The silver hand that drives back the darkness, Reaching through the fog of night, To avenge those long betrayed" or "I renounce the Blessed Realm. To redeem the Land of Shadow. And bind the walls of Arda, In place of the Dark Lord, You shall have light undiminished, All shall fear me and rejoice." I've been having so much trouble translating this on my own, and I know some of it will need to be changed or use synonyms, but any translation help would be greatly appreciated. I'm also not sure how punctuation works in Sindarin and Tengwar, so the periods and commas can be deleted or changed to whatever is best. I realize that depending on how long it is, I might only be able to use part of one of the options I chose on the ring. Sorry for the long post, and thanks in advance!!
