Translation for a new learner

Eryn Tîn Glaur #1522

Hello there!

I’m a huge fan of Tolkien’s works, particularly Middle-earth, and am reading my way through basically everything I can get my hands on (currently on Beren and Lúthien). I have recently started trying to learn Sindarin, but I’m not that far yet so, like a lot of newbies on this site, I still need some help from some of you talented individuals! Asking for help with more than one phrase at once may be a bit much, but I thought I might as well put them in one post rather than making separate ones. So if someone could assist me with these, and maybe also give me the Tengwar if that’s possible, that would be amazing!

Alright, so my first thing is a translation of the name ‘Forest (or Wood) of glowing sparks’. You can change some of the words if necessary, as long as it’s sort of along the same lines. I assume that taur or eryn will be an element...? The second thing is a translation of the phrase ‘May you find the house of joy and rest’ again, the words don’t need to be precisely those if they don’t work.

Thank you so much for any feedback on this! I am really trying to learn this language so anything like that will help a lot! I have been using this website for a bit before making an account, and it’s really brilliant- everything is so understandable but still in-depth. And I have huge respect for those of you who are really good at these languages. So yeah, thanks again! Bye

I'm far from expert when it comes to Sindarin, so do wait for other opinions, but I thought I'd take a crack:

Taur/Eryn Tîn Glaur
lit. "Forest/Wood (of) Sparks (of) Gold"
I went with glaur (n.) "gold (light or colour)" because ruin (adj.) "glowing, fiery red" seemed a tad foreboding. My instinct is to combine those last two for something like Glorthín, Glordín, or Tinglor, but since the ordering and mutation depend on compound age, I'll leave that for more seasoned hands.

No i chirathol i mâr îdh a glass.
lit. "May you find the house of repose and joy."
I'm more confident here, but again, wait for a second opinion!

Thank you so much! I’ll follow your advice and wait a bit but your suggestions already sound really nice. I agree, ruin isn’t really the right choice here but I like your alternative.

Thanks again!
