I'm very much a beginner, and I want to check whether my attempt at translating name is correct.
I'm trying to translate "Serpent of the World" into Sindarin, and came up with lŷgenamar. Is this correct? Obviously it's a very rough translation.

It is, but traditionally the elements would be separated from each other by a hyphen: Lŷg-en-Amar
Thank you! I'm thinking of using it for my snake pet's name, so are the hyphens absolutely necessary? From the examples it seems that hyphens are only for names of places?
If you need it as a single word then perhaps the easiest would be to reverse the order of elemnts as Amarlug or Amarlyg "world-serpent".
