tumbalemorna

proper name. deepvalleyblack

A descriptive name of Fangorn appearing in the even longer Entish description of that land: Taurelilómëa-tumbalemorna Tumbaletaurëa Lómëanor (LotR/467). The name is a combination of tumbalë “deep valley, depth” and morna “black” (LotR/1131, PE17/81).

Perhaps "Lorien" is a typo for "Fangorn"? I always understood this passage to refer to the black-hearted trees of Fangorn which resembled those of the Old Forest. The fact that "lomeanor" means "gloomyland" is another indicator. Mariesse, Syl

Excellent point. When I put this note in the Eldamo data I conflated it with the earlier phrase: Laurelindórenan lindelorendor malinornélion ornemalin

eldamo.org

This first phrase is clearly a description of Lórien, but I agree the second phrase Taurelilómëa-tumbalemorna Tumbaletaurëa Lómëanor makes more sense as a description of Fangorn.
