Thank you for your contribution! But unfortunately, your contribution was rejected by Gilruin. Reason:
I can’t think about a good way to express “in vain”, but I’ll keep thinking about it. I’ll reject this submission for the time being, because lothren is already attested as “wild, wast”.
You are welcome to adapt your submission and submit it for review again.
I had originally come across the root on Eldamo, where it was listed as meaning "empty." I took that to mean emptiness in more than just the literal meaning of the word, as "vanity" can meaning something done without purpose (something done "in emptiness," so to speak). Probably not the best root to use, but it's the only one that I found that encapsulates what I was trying to write. Though I'd be more than willing to use something else, if it exists.
An attempted translation of the idiom "in vain" into Sindarin. Derived from the middle-primitive root ᴹ√LUS ("empty") and the adjective-suffix -ren.
