Elvish application support

Martin Einarsson #1797

Hi all!

I was asked following question the other day: "Martin, would it be possible for you to implement Elvish in your application?"

My answer was: "Of course! I need a dictionary/word list for that. How do we proceed?"

My question to you guys is: How do we proceed?

I am a software developer and I have some time to spend with this and I have some other special word lists in my application so adding this one will be no problem. What I need is a proper list and preferbly with translations to several languages.

I found some sites that have something.

Oh yeah, the application. It is a scrabble like kind of thing and I'm trying to add a twist to it for educational purposes and it is free to use with unintrusive ads. I want to have as many features as possible free and at the same time have some "money recovery" as this has been proven to be an expensive project. We are releasing an Alfa release in 4 weeks and I see no problems adding another word list for this. I just need it in a good format.

What do you guys say?

/Martin

Hi Martin,

Welcome to Parf Edhellen! I'd like to learn more about your application. Can you please send me the details via a DM on Twitter?

Thanks,

Hi there Aldaleon, If you know of the application "WordFeud" , it is basically the same engine. My application has more features and the ones that stands out are:

  • meaning of the words played are displayed
  • translations of words played are displayed
  • play up to 6 people in various configurations
  • support for minority languages
  • support for special fonts (like Elvish, Klingon and Kanji)
  • support for different game play
  • support for tournaments

I need to know what specific details you want to know before I can answer any and my guess is that this is what you need to know.
