Translation for a tattoo

Henrico Marks #4675

Mellyn

I've been toying with an idea for a simple tattoo in Sindarin. I want it to say something along the lines of "Seek the fair". The inspiration for this is Hildur's quote about there being "much that is fair" still in the world. The direct translation would be "Cesta i bain", but I'm not entirely sure if this is grammatically or contextually correct. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Suilad Henrico!

So for "seek the fair" you would need the Imperative cesto and because of the new PE23 some have adopted e(n)/i(n) vs. i/(in). Also bain is an adjective and I don't believe can have the definite article in Sindarin like it does in English. You would have to use the word "beauty" or something like that. For these reason I would opt for transcribing the English with Tengwar.

  • ᴺS. !banath n. “beauty”
  • ᴺS. !beinas n. “beauty”
