"You can't cast a shadow without light"

The phrase "You can't cast a shadow without light" is something of a motto for one of the characters in Baldur's Gate. Since that character speaks Elvish I'm curious what it would be in Quenya or Sindarin. I tried to work it out myself but it's beyond my skill, so can anyone help me out?

Maybe something like this in Sindarin.

• ú·Belig/ú·Belil pathad i·vorchant gín/lín ben·galad/be·chalad.
• You cannot show your shadow without light.

or

• ú·Belig/ú·Belil esgal ben·galad/be·chalad.
• You cannot cast shadow without light.

the endings -ig/il are just familiar/polite same as gín/lín.
