Translation of a short sentence

I'm still in the beginning of my journey mastering Sindarin. Although I've gone through all material and should theoretically have "the knowledge", but I still feel pretty insecure translating anything more complex. Thus I would seek advice of the wise how I managed to translate sentence below

"in light is her power and her joy"

"vi galad no i curu a i ‘ell dîn"

What I'm not sure about does "vi" purely refer to physical places and can it be used such context?

A bit out of the scope of the original question, but is there any places or way to practice translating? Getting more training sentence structure and getting right mutations in place and feedback (in someway) what went correctly and where is still learning to do

It's a good first attempt, but you've forgotten some mutations and I don't think you need no as it's implicit in Sindarin:

vi galad i guru dín ar i 'ell dín
in light [is] her skill and her joy

I think you can use vi this way because of the following phrases:

inn dha v’im
I have a good mind (to do so)

bo Ceven sui vi Menel
on Earth as [it is] in Heaven

I use Mi at the beginning of sentences and lenited it to vi everywhere else. And if you want to use power two choices balas divinity, divine power, or polodh power, might, authority. In this sense I would use balas Mi galad i-valas dín ah i-‘ell dín. The ah vs ar distinction is interesting. There's so many canonical examples of ar in published works and a(h) in posthumous publications. It's a matter of preference in my view!

Oh, yes I was not knocking ar at all. I just choose to stick with a(h).

I was told by a Pethron these are his words “that ar is not "pure Sindarin" so to speak. The conjunction comes from √AS, which in Sindarin becomes ah causing spirant mutation; in Quenya however √AS > ar, which later influenced Sindarin and introduced ar there as well.”

Originally I ended-up using curu as was thinking power coming more from wisdom and knowledge. Now looking again at the definition not necessarily the best choice.

As I've seen few variations of using i and now started thinking is it just a matter of preference using eg. i 'ell vs. i-'ell or is there some grammar rule behind I (most likely) haven't yet encountered?

Your welcome! And yes, you will see i 'ell, i-'ell and i·'ell all are a matter of preference. I choose to use a dash/hyphen when using definite articles and prepositions. Take for instance the consonant g.

• i (the) X: i-'…
• in (the pl) X: i-ñ…
• an (to, for) X: añ ñ…
• en (of the) X: e-g…
• ed (out of) X: e g…
• or (above) X: '…
• od (from, of) X: o g…

I also like using the dash/hyphen also makes it easier to distinguish from the pronoun i (who, that).

Thank you for clarifying things :) That's good to know it's a matter of preference, and do get the value using those to distinguish meaning more easily. Could also try to take same practice to own style (originally learned not to use any punctuation marks)
