Beware, older languages below! The languages below were invented during Tolkien's earlier period and should be used with caution. Remember to never, ever mix words from different languages!

Early Primitive Elvish

lusu

root. foment, cherish, warm, bathe

A root in the Qenya Lexicon of the 1910s glossed “foment, cherish, warm, bathe”, with derivatives ᴱQ. lúsina “warm, glowing, of things; of people, affectionate, hearty”, ᴱQ. lusta “warm bath”, and ᴱQ. lusta- “bathe in warm water” (QL/55). As pointed out by Gilson, Hostetter, Wynne and Smith, “cherish” has an archaic sense “to keep warm” (QL/55), and Tolkien was also likely using “foment” in its older sense of “bathe with warm lotions”. There are no signs of this root in Tolkien’s later writing.
