Hi, what does ‘Aldaleon’ mean? Does it mean tree shadow in quenya or am I completely making that up! (Alda (tree) + lëo (shadow) + -n (dative ending)). I just wondered because it sounded really nice! Thanks

It is indeed a combination of alda "tree" and lëo "shadow" with the intended meaning "the man under tree-shadow"! It is a play on my own name Leonard.

Sadly ᴹQ. lëo is derived from the root ᴹ√DAY "shadow" (dajō>lajō>lëo) which only appears in the Pre-LotR drafts. Meanwhile (Post)LotR or simply canon works rather have √DAY as "great" with derivations like S. daer adj. "great". So from a Late Period perspective, Aldaleon cannot mean "Tree-shadow(man)".
