Query re names of Turin's outlaw companions

Aidan Bickersteth #639

Hi All

Congratulations to the creators of this website for doing such a wonderful job on such a great resource!

I do have one query however. In the book' The Children of Hurin,' at the beginning of the chapter 'Turin Among the Outlaws,' a number of outlaws are mentioned who become his companions: Androg, Algund, and Forweg. When I looked up these names on your website they were all listed as 'Easterling,' I am not sure if this relates to their race or language!

On the second page of the chapter Forweg is mentioned as being of the House of Hador. Given the context of the story, it seems to me very likely that Androg and Algund were also fallen Edain.

As I'm not an expert please could the entries for these names be checked.

Many thanks

Aidan

This is not a problem with Aldaleon’s website, but rather is a problem with one of its data sources, in particular the Eldamo data set which I maintain. There is a known issue where some mannish names are attributed to the wrong language. See this bug report here:

github.com

I haven’t gotten around to fixing it, because most of my focus has been on the Elvish languages, and I haven’t had time to sort through the evidence to figure out the likely origins of these names.

Ok thanks Paul.
